Sesotho Fashioneng: The Ultimate Celebration

01 — The Door-Opener

Before the train,
there was the weather.

Every story has a first door, and for Ntate Stunna it was 'Tsa Bolepi'. It's a Sesotho freestyle in which he plays a TV weatherman delivering the forecast. He posted it on Facebook in October 2019 to promote his debut EP, 'Sesotho Fashioneng'.

It went viral and brought him a South African following, years before Stimela. Many people rose with it. The EP's name became the brand, and the brand became the celebration on this cover.

02 — The Nostalgia

Then came
Stimela.

His first international song

Stimela

2Point1 with Ntate Stunna and Nthabi Sings. It's a fresh dance remake of Mbongeni Ngema's much-loved mbaqanga classic, released in December 2022. It's the song that carried his voice past the border, and the one people still sing back word for word. Hearing it now is pure nostalgia, a train that never quite left the station.

03 — Still Here

Relevance,
worn humbly.

Moments pass and staying is the hard part. Since Stimela he has kept showing up, kept recording and kept the people close. He has defied the odds without making noise about it.

The new chapter keeps the energy moving: 'Senya', a new party single from 2Point1 ft Ntate Stunna & Nthabi Sings, and the 'Fire' video, premiering at home in Maseru.

04 — Sesotho Fashioneng

The Ultimate
Celebration.

There's a particular confidence in dressing like you know where you come from. Basotho style has always been an argument in layers, and here it starts at the neck: a Basotho blanket-print scarf in red and blue, the pattern of the mountains worn the way a city wears a statement piece. Its label tag reads Thabo Mafetola.

Underneath, it all goes quiet. A plain black tee, tonal maroon trousers and dark shades let the heritage print do the talking. Then gold, a watch and a chain, catches the light.

On stage the maroon story keeps going: a short-sleeve leather zip jacket, a crochet slouch beanie in the same deep wine, silver aviators and an Africa-map pendant. It's one colour worn head to toe, from day into night.

It sits right next to Sesotho Fashioneng, the label from his manager's camp, with its earthy palette and the signature Sekola beanie.

Picture Maseru on a Saturday night: headlights on the hills, the bass reaching the street before you reach the door. Kasi Kota in Ha Pita hosts the premiere of the Fire video. It's a hometown screening, and it's a party.

Dress for it. Wear the earth tones and the beanie, and bring your crew. This is the night the visuals finally go up on the big screen.
